Application in camper van and interior design

The self-adhesive 3 mm polypropylene needle felt is the convenient solution for the quick and clean conversion of campers, vans and vehicle interiors.

The integrated adhesive layer allows for direct bonding without additional spray adhesive.

The 1-meter roll width allows controlled and precise application – ideal for side walls, ceilings, furniture cladding, wheel arches, and storage areas.

The felt creates a homely appearance while also reducing driving and ambient noise.

Processing instructions

1. Preparing the substrate

For permanent adhesion, the substrate should be:

• dry
  
• clean
  
• dust-free
  
• grease- and silicone-free
  
• viable

Loose paint or non-sound coatings should be removed or strengthened.

The following are generally well suited:

• Wood (multiplex, MDF etc.)
• metal
• Glass
• ABS
• Rigid PVC
• Armaflex
  

Critical subsurfaces:

• PP
  
• PE
  
• Teflon
  
• silicone
  
• rubberized surfaces
  

We strongly recommend a test bonding here.

3. Applying the felt

• Carefully peel off the backing paper starting from one corner.
  
• Avoid touching the adhesive surface with your fingers if possible.
  
• Apply and align the felt without tension.
  
• Work in sections
  

4. Print

Rubbing vigorously by hand improves the adhesive effect.

For optimal results, we recommend using a pressure roller or squeegee. Not essential.

5. Curing & Final Strength

TheFull adhesive strength is only achieved after at least 24 hours.

• Initial liability is moderate
  
• Final strength develops over time and with increasing contact pressure.
  
• Avoid strenuous activity during the first 24 hours.

The final adhesion depends significantly on the substrate, temperature, and contact pressure.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the felt adhere immediately?

It adheres after being pressed into place, but reaches its full adhesive strength only after approximately 24 hours.

Do I need additional glue?

No. The integrated adhesive layer is sufficient for suitable surfaces.
For difficult or low-energy plastics, we recommend a test bonding.

Can I correct the felt?

Slight corrections are possible during the application process.
After increasing development of the bond, repositioning is only possible to a limited extent.

Does the felt insulate against noise and cold?

The needle felt reduces sound and supports thermal insulation.
However, it does not replace technical insulation (e.g. Armaflex), but serves as a functional surface finish.

Is the felt waterproof?

Polypropylene is insensitive to moisture.
However, the felt is not intended for permanent outdoor use or permanently wet areas.

How should the felt be stored?

• Ideal at approximately 20 °C (room temperature)
• 50–70% humidity
• Protect from UV radiation and direct sunlight
• Durability of the adhesive layer before bonding: approx. 1 year

Are the cut edges fraying?

No. Needle felt can be cut cleanly with scissors or a utility knife and does not fray.

Important note regarding processing

The user is responsible for ensuring proper bonding and suitable application conditions.
Since surfaces, temperatures, and stresses vary, we generally recommend a test application before final installation. Experience has shown that our camper felt is very easy to work with. See our customer testimonials.
