You can choose between a length of 1 - 10 meters and a thickness of 3 and 5 mm!
Due to production reasons, some qualities may have a needle edge across the width (holes on the edge). The minimum usable width is the width between the needle edges. However, this can also be wider or narrower due to production reasons.
According to DIN 61200, there are different degrees of hardness for the different raw densities of the felt. The hardness of a milled wool felt indicates its resistance to pressure and deformation. It grows with the raw density, although a comparison is only possible if the felt qualities are the same.
It is divided into
- W2-W5 'Soft' (specifically 0.10-0.16) e.g. for upholstery,
- M1-M6 'Medium' (specifically 0.18-0.30) e.g. for upholstery,
- F1-F5 'Solid' (specifically 0.32-0.48) e.g. for seals, wipers or for lubrication and
- H1-H5 'Hard' (specifically 0.52-0.68) e.g. for polishing.
The sheep's wool used has been cleaned, felted and dyed and feels very soft after production. Nevertheless, the felt is firm to the touch and resilient. It insulates the heat/cold and, for example, protects your table from the heat of the pot as a coaster.
